Our Coaching Approach

Our instructors love skating and love sharing what they know. Here are the key principles that guide how we teach:

  • Skill = Knowledge + Practice - You need both to get better
  • Build your knowledge - learn the techniques
  • Practice regularly - put what you learn into action
  • There's always something to learn from every coach
  • Every skill can be broken down into smaller steps
  • Learning is a journey, not a destination - keep going!
"Coaches don't make you better. Coaches motivate you, guide you, support you, challenge you, and inspire you. But they do not make you better. Every improvement is earned with your own effort. Be proud of the progress that you achieve and never stop improving."

- Coach Allen

What Our Students Say

Here's what one of our top students had to say about the class

When you think of a coach, you probably imagine someone who knows their stuff and explains things in a kind and professional way. Well, that's Coach Allen. I recommend going to Coach Allen's class because he's knowledgeable about skating, patient and encouraging, and super nice and funny. He makes learning fun!

Coach Allen is great at working with each person's level - from beginner to advanced, from young to old. When I first joined his class, I knew how to skate pretty well, but Coach Allen showed me there was still so much to learn. He always goes over the fundamentals and takes the time to get to know each student and guide them to become better skaters. You can see he really loves helping people.

Also, he's not the kind of coach that tells you what to do from the sidelines. He trains you on his own skates and demonstrates every drill. And I've never seen him fall. However, he always says "Falling is the quickest way to learn." Anyway, I have nothing bad to say about his class. So, for just twenty dollars you get to participate in his one-hour lesson and you can skate for two hours after. That's three hours of skating. Definitely give his class a go.

Private Lessons - $120 per hour

One-on-one instruction tailored to your goals

Private lessons are available for those who want one-on-one instruction. Our instructors will work with you to develop a personalized lesson plan that meets your goals. Private lessons are perfect if you want to improve quickly or focus on specific areas of skating.

What's Included:

  • Private rink space
  • One-on-one instruction
  • Personalized lesson plan
  • Feedback and tips for improvement
  • Next steps for progression
  • Specific drills to take home tailored to you

Every first lesson begins with a thorough evaluation unless the coach has already seen you skate. When scheduling a private lesson, we'll ask you about your skating experience and goals to match you with the best instructor.

A lesson plan is a detailed outline of what you'll learn during your lesson. It will outline specific skills and drills you can use to improve your skating. Your instructor will give you precise feedback and may adapt the lesson plan based on how you handle each drill. Our goal is to provide the fastest and safest way to improve your skating. Private lessons help you improve significantly faster than you would with group lessons.
